Nimh (Giuseppe Verticchio) nasce a Roma nel 1965.
Appassionato di musica ambient, sperimentale ed elettronica, e informatico di professione, si avvicina alla produzione di questo genere musicale nel 1994.
Nel 1996 si trasferisce per un anno a Koh Samui, in Thailandia, e in questo periodo inizia a maturare l'interesse per le musiche tradizionali orientali, interesse che progressivamente lo porterà ad avvicinarsi sempre più agli strumenti etnici, e ad inserirli in modo rilevante in alcuni suoi lavori.
Dal 2001 inizia ad utilizzare lo pseudonimo "Nimh" per firmare le proprie realizzazioni.
La sua musica riunisce influenze di vario genere, gli album sono spesso molto diversi l'uno dall'altro, e contengono varie miscele di elementi di musica sperimentale, ambient, dark-ambient, industriale, elettronica, isolazionista, etnico- rituale.
Oltre ad alcuni CD-R realizzati nel primo decennio di attività e circolati soltanto in edizioni limitate, dal 2004 ad oggi Nimh ha pubblicato numerosi CD ufficiali attraverso etichette quali Amplexus, Silentes ed Eibon, alternando lavori in solo a progetti paralleli e collaborazioni con altri artisti.
Tre le collaborazioni più significative degli ultimi anni quella con Maurizio Bianchi/M.B. (“Secluded Truths” - CD Silentes 2005, “Together’s Symphony” - 4xCD Boxset Silentes 2005); quella con Andrea Marutti/Amon (“Sator” - CD Eibon 2007), il progetto dark-ambient “Hall of Mirrors” sempre insieme ad Andrea Marutti/Amon (“Reflections on Black” - CD Silentes 2007, “Forgotten Realm” - CD Silentes 2009); quindi ancora la collaborazione con Mauthausen Orchestra/Pierpaolo Zoppo (“From Unhealthy Places” - CD Silentes 2009) nonché le meno recenti collaborazioni con Nefelheim (“Whispers from the Ashes” - CD Amplexus 2004), e quella con Amir Baghiri (“Entities” - CD-R Silentes 2005).
In questi anni di attività Giuseppe Verticchio/Nimh ha inoltre collaborato a vario titolo (partecipazioni a CD e compilations, esibizioni dal vivo, realizzazioni di lavori di editing e mastering…) con altri artisti/progetti dell'area ambient-elettronica-industriale-sperimentale-etnica quali Aube, Eidulon, Hue, Raffaele Serra, Andrea Ferroni, Stefano Scala, Andrea Ferraris, Andrea Freschi/Subinterior, Claudio Ricciardi (ex membro della formazione di canto armonico "Prima Materia" di cui faceva parte anche Roberto Laneri).
Nel 2009, per celebrare il quinto anno di attività di Silentes, l’etichetta ha pubblicato, in una edizione limitata a 150 copie, il CD “Atrocity Exhibition” del progetto “Maribor”, che ha visto collaborare per la prima volta insieme Nimh, Maurizio Bianchi, Mauthausen Orchestra, Andrea Marutti e Stefano Gentile.

 

Born in Rome in 1965, Nimh (Giuseppe Verticchio), computer programmer, starts to play electronic music in 1994.
In 1996 he moves in Koh Samui, Thailand, where he lives about one year.
During this period he starts to know and love oriental traditional music, so he begins to collect various ethnic instruments and to use them in his CDs.
Starting from 2001 he realized many CDs under the name of "Nimh".
His music combines a wide spectrum of influences, he has recorded and released many works of different nature containing elements of experimental music, ambient, dark-ambient, industrial, electronic, isolationism, ritual-ethnic music.
After some CD-Rs available only in limited edition, since 2004 Nimh published a lot of official CDs released by labels such as Amplexus, Silentes and Eibon, alternating solo works with side projects and collaborations with other artists.
The most important collaborations of recent years include Maurizio Bianchi/M.B. (“Secluded Truths” - CD Silentes 2005, “Together’s Symphony” - 4xCD Boxset Silentes 2005), Andrea Marutti/Amon (“Sator” - CD Eibon 2007), the dark ambient project “Hall of Mirrors” with Andrea Marutti/Amon (“Reflections on Black” - CD Silentes 2007, “Forgotten Realm” - CD Silentes 2009), Mauthausen Orchestra/Pierpaolo Zoppo (“From Unhealthy Places” - CD Silentes 2009).
Other less recent collaborations are with Nefelheim (“Whispers from the Ashes” - CD Amplexus 2004), and with Amir Baghiri (“Entities” - CD-R Silentes 2005).
In these years of activity Giuseppe Verticchio/Nimh collaborated in various way (partecipation to CDs and compilations, live performances, audio editing and mastering works…) with other artists/projects in ambient-electronic-industrial-experimental-ethnic musical scene, such as Aube, Eidulon, Hue, Raffaele Serra, Andrea Ferroni, Stefano Scala, Andrea Ferraris, Andrea Freschi/Subinterior, Claudio Ricciardi (ex member with Roberto Laneri of the historical harmonic chant ensemble "Prima Materia").
In 2009, to celebrate the fifth year of activity of Silentes, the label published in a limited edition of 150 copies the CD “Atrocity Exhibition” by the collaborative project “Maribor”, including Nimh, Maurizio Bianchi, Mauthausen Orchestra, Andrea Marutti and Stefano Gentile.
